Introducing sports

4/5/2008 We brought out a little bag tricks we bought a few years ago. Alex was really interested in the various things in the bag.
First attempt - badminton
Nicholas kinda gets it
No one is able to hit the birdie in air - not even Daddy.

A week off

I had the week after Easter off. Unfortunately, David had to work for most of the week. But, we managed to compress our usual in-town-fun into a couple of days.

3/29/08 Back at the zoo. This is the first time we haven't brought strollers for the boys. We tried renting the zoo's big stroller. Too bad we couldn't use it on the way to the parking lot. Nicholas fell asleep, and I had to carry him from stroller rental to the car. I was ready for a nap, too, by the time we made it to the car!

3/29/08 - The boys had their faces painted. Both wanted a blue star. Alex almost refused to take a bath because he didn't want to lose his blue star. We took pictures as a compromise.
3/26/08 - Boy are we all glad that we can play outside. The boys love to play with lavender. Alex likes to pick it apart and throw it down the umbrella hole on his table.
This is where he wants to plant "tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, and flowers" in the backyard this year. Nicholas is so happy to be outside again.

Of course, it is still fun to come inside and paint.

Easter

March 22, 2008 - Coloring eggs at home. We practiced coloring eggs at Nana's a week earlier, but they just dumped the colors and smashed the eggs. It went much better at home.

Alex was painting.
It is fun to color the eggs and glitter paint them.
This was right before Nick stopped painting the eggs and started painting his face.
3/23/08 - Checking out what the Easter Bunny brought.

Yummy

Uncle Ryan and Aunt Jenn brought their Wii over for the kids (yeah, right) to play with.

All the kids in Nana's play room.

Blizzard Warning

3/8/2008 This morning the boys looked outside and Nick said "I have to go out in da snow, Mommy." over, and over, and over again. So at about 8:30, we thought we'd go out back and play for a few minutes. We couldn't even make it out of the driveway.
Alex needed a lot of help just walking.
Nicholas, on the other hand, was running just so he would fall down repeatedly "just like the scarecrow." They both have little shovels that they love to play with in the snow.
Alex was still struggling to stay upright.
Nicholas was dragging his shovel over the snow saying "I have to dig, I have to dig."

David and I were trying to dig out the driveway - not sure why - there's another 8 hours worth of snow in the forecast and the wind is blowing pretty hard at times. Besides, even if we could get our cars out of the driveway, there is absolutely no way we'd be able to get down the street!

Alex is trying to help a little.
Nicholas really loves the snow - even though he lost his binka in a snow drift a minute later.
Nick likes to shovel the snow covered grass the best.

The wind started to pick up, so we decided it was time to go in.

We made cupcakes!

2/22/08 - I mixed the ingredients, and the boys filled the cupcakes with the batter. They had to be coaxed into filling more than just one paper. We had many empty wrappers and 2 overflowing cupcakes. We watched the cupckaes bake and then decorated them.
I asked them what they wanted on the cupcakes and they simultaneously shouted "Marshmallows and sprinkles" and then started chanting it! Cupcakes and marshmallows???? I had to talk them into icing.
Cleaning up at the sink was an ear-piercing experience.
I can't remember what they asked for, but I had to tell them "No" for some reason, and here are their reactions. They are both very angry - stark contrast from the previous picture.
Alex is so mad that he has to leave.

Chik-Fil-A is almost as fun as Chuck E Cheese

2/16/08 The boys have a blast a Chik-Fil-A . . . And it is much less expensive than Chuck E Cheese . . . And they give you free coffee until 10:30 am.
They can't climb very high on this contraption, yet, but they keep trying.
They also love the tree house and the mirrors.
2/13/08 I finished a little bunny for some one's new baby, but Alex grabbed it and wouldn't stop kissing it! I had to start on something completely different for the baby.
He really loves this bunny.

A snowy day

2/12/2008. Alex is getting ready to go play in the snow! There were supposed to be 5-7 inches, but we only got about 3 before it switched to freezing rain and then eventually rain.
Nicholas insisted on swinging. We struggled to get him out of the swing when he was done - not because he didn't want to come - his snow suit and boots were stuck! Luckily, we were eventually able to wiggle him out.
Alex was having a hard time seeing - we had to fix his hat. Nicholas loves to crunch the snow.

It was also fun to come inside and get warm. Alex decided to join Nick on the love seat. He's only 2 1/2 and already knows what a delight it is to snuggle up with a good book. That book is about "colors".
He looks sleepy.

Nick just likes to snuggle with his "lellow blank-a."

Back at Chuck E. Cheese's

2/3/2008 - Nicholas likes to ride on the "Tick Tock" or "Elevator"
Alex is driving and looking at himself at the same time.
Nicholas is playing with the water cannons.
Climbing and crawling around are so much fun!
A true first! They have never been willing to sit and eat anything at Chuck E Cheese!
